dragon boat festival

and yet again it's another random holiday where i get a 3 day weekend! i won't complain. thank you dragon boat festival, thank you.
my friends and I have decided to just take it easy these 3 days, get some shopping done, eat some good food and enjoy our last few weeks together.

a traditional dish made during the dragon boat festival is called zongzi. my tutor, jack, his fiancee's (her English name is Flower :) mother made these and he brought them over for us to try! they were pretty tasty! its glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo leaves and then stuffed with either meat or veggies. i had a pork one and amanda had red bean!

  they are so intricate looking.

amanda slowly unfolding hers. jack taught us to put the
chopsticks in the bottom while we unwrap.

unwrapping my zongzi

happy DBF! ;)
